Pardon the Interruption: Blizzard Looms
For anyone reading this on the east coast...I am posting an official forecast for snowfall accumulations for the coming blizzard along the I-95 corridor and the east coast.
The dashed black line depicts where the possibility for a mixing with or changing to rain or sleet may limit accumulations...otherwise this is an all-snow forecast.
Readers should be aware that this will be a wind-whipped snowstorm from Washington DC to Boston and points south and east...significant blowing and drifting of snow will make road travel difficult or even impossible in some places even after the snow has stopped. People living along the immediate coast line may experience winds to tropical storm or even hurricane force in gusts and the beaches - which have been severely impacted by tropical storms and nor'easters already this year - are likely to experience some erosion and tidal flooding.
Snow should begin in the DC area late Friday night and in the NYC area in the mid afternoon Saturday, tapering off in DC overnight Saturday and in Boston by Sunday afternoon. The heaviest snow bands may contain thunder and lightning, so do not be surprised/alarmed if you observe this. Travel this weekend is NOT recommended in any of these areas.
