Overall Rating: 5.5
How the heck did we get from the Buffy that was seriously kick-ass and seriously maturing at the end of third season to the one that can't tolerate a girly-girl roommate, can't take out a single female vampire?? and can't stand getting busted for talking during class?

The Skinny:
I get it...the transition to college life can be a bit daunting even for kids who are as ready to move on with their lives as Buffy was. Part of growing up is learning to work well with others and blend as an "adult" on a college campus, and many kids who were confident and sure in high school feel a little alienated for a while at college. But...here begins the season of WAAAAAHHHHHHHHH...I don't like it...it feels like a gigantic step backwards for Buffy. Undergraduate college shouldn't scare someone who's faced down uber-demons, had a serious long-term relationship blow up already, and who has lots of friends around her to keep her grounded. If you wanted to sell us on Buffy having a hard time at college, that should have been done with something a little more overwhelming than a single bad-girl vamp and an angry professor. They couldn't come up with something better? Really??
Writing: 4.0
This one lacks creativity and the dialogue is, well...kind of lame.
Acting: 6.5
No one sparkles here, sorry to say. No one flops either, other than the guest vamp (boooooring), but it's a forgettable performance all around.
Message: 6.0
College is harder than high school and the adjustment period takes some time to work through...yeah...but their message was torpedoed by the lame things that they used to deliver it.
