Classics: B5 4:12 - Conflicts of Interest

Overall: 6.8

Meh. That's pretty much all I have to say.

Plot Synopsis:

The Lurker's Guide has a summary here, as always.

The Skinny:

I'm not sure why Garibaldi's relationship with Lise and his involvement with William Edgars' outfit fails to grab my interest, but it just doesn't. Maybe it's because Jerry Doyle and Denise Gentile are generally only okay as performers. Who knows? At any rate, as far as Garibaldi's plot goes, this episode is purely transitional. JMS continues to play with the tension that now exists between Sheridan and Garibaldi, but really, at this point, I'm just waiting for the big pay-off.

Actually, this episode is transitional across the board. It's nice to see the launch of the "Voice of the Resistance," but what's really interesting is actually putting it to some use. It's also nice to see Londo and G'Kar again, but even that scene is there just to lay the groundwork for a (fantabulously awesome) plot a few episodes from now.

I'll say again: this episode is pretty "meh".

Writing: 7.0

The stage-setting is necessary -- but slightly dull.

Acting: 7.0

The performances are fine, but certainly nothing special.

Message: 6.5

No Big Themes are tackled here in any depth, but I'm adding 0.5 to the neutral for Ivanova's launch speech for the VoR.
