Classics: SG1 5:17 - Fail Safe

Overall Rating: 6.7

Cool little action episode lacking in juicy brain food. It's good fun...but you won't feel an urge to see it again.

Plot Synopsis:

The doomsday plot can be found at the Stargate Wiki.

The Skinny:

Remember that movie Armageddon? Most of you probably saw that. Most of you only saw that once, because, let's face it...it was a rollicking good time but...only one viewing was necessary because no thought was required. Well this episode is Armageddon in an hour instead of two and without the super-hot animal-cracker scene. It is nifty that Anubis tried to blow up Earth with a Naquadah-cored asteroid to get around the protected-planets treaty...I like that they're gently setting up the whole Anubis sub-arc. And there's nothing intrinsically wrong with this episode...but there's nothing special either. It is what it is...watch, enjoy, and then move on. This is the kind of episode I hate to review, not because I think it's bad...but because there's nothing to talk about.

Writing: 6.0

The plot was lifted from Armageddon almost detail for detail (minus the romance)...they made no major mistakes...but they did nothing unique either...the definition of a par script.

Acting: 8.0

I do think all of the acting was above par...they do a great job with the episodes that actually directly imperil Earth...that's always been true.

There is no message, only Zool.
