Classics: Farscape 2:14 - Beware of Dog

Overall: 6.3

I was all set to give this one a score in the fives for its weak main plot, but the last two scenes are actually pretty good.

Plot Synopsis:

The Farscape Wiki has a recap here.

The Skinny:

Okay -- I'll grant that the Vorc is pretty cute when he's in his docile form. And Aeryn's guilt upon the creature's death is genuinely poignant. Still, the whole parasite story feels like so much pointless filler to me. It doesn't really add anything to the mythos.

On the other hand, as I implied above, I can't write off this episode entirely because it does reveal something important about Crichton: that he's now "seeing" Scorpius while stone-cold sober. Crichton's doing his best to assuage Aeryn's anxiety, but in the last scene especially, you really get the sense that even he is beginning to doubt his own sanity. Eeeeep.

Writing: 6.0

I'm giving Shankar credit here for continuing Crichton's slow descent into madness. Otherwise? Eh. This critter feature generally doesn't work for me.

Acting: 7.0

The performances are decent, but outside of the aforementioned final two scenes, the cast members aren't given much opportunity to really show their chops.
